Energy Tax Credit

Manufacturer’s Certification Statement

The bad news

Heating bills are predicted to soar this winter between 20% and 50% more than what you paid last year; and they may not decline for years to come.

The good news

By installing Greenfiber’s GreenFiber in your home between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2007, you can claim a tax credit of up to $500 on the amount spent. When used in your attic and walls, GreenFiber will reduce heat loss and air infiltration, ultimately reducing costly fuel bills during the heating and cooling seasons. The recent tax credit – a dollar-for-dollar reduction in your tax bill – is an added incentive for you to purchase GreenFiber to save both energy and money in the future. This tax credit must be used only for your primary residence and not for energy improvements done to a vacation home or second residence.

A benefit of GreenFiber is that its installation is quick and easy

you can even do-it-yourself. Or, you could hire a contractor to do the installation for you. Step-by-step instructions are found on our home page by clicking on the "Do-It-Yourself" section. In addition, GreenFiber may be purchased at your nearest home improvement store or lumber yard. If you wish installation help, visit the section called "Insulation Contractors" on our home page or call our Customer Service at 800-228-0024.

More about the Energy Policy Act of 2005

On August 8, 2005, President Bush signed the Energy Policy Act, which initiated the first comprehensive energy plan in a generation to encourage conservation and energy efficiency. This new energy legislation includes provisions that will help American families save money and energy in the next two years by home conservation measures. Home energy efficiency qualifications include:

  • A 10% cost-based credit up to $500 for any insulation material or system specifically designed to reduce heat loss or gain. Installation of GreenFiber qualifies for this credit.
  • A 30% cost-based credit up to $2,000 for installation of solar-powered, hot-water systems for purposes other than heating a swimming pool or hot tub.
  • A $200 credit for installation of new exterior windows or doors.
  • A $300 credit for purchases of a highly efficient central air conditioner, heat pump or water heater.
  • A $150 credit for installation of a highly efficient furnace or boiler.
  • A 10% investment tax credit for expenditures with respect to improvements to a structure’s envelope.
